Anyone who has been a Christian for a number of years will know that there is a phase in life where God seems silent. Isaiah 40:31 says “They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint”. There is always the wait and that wait can be one of the worst feelings. The only people who enjoy the waiting process are the lazy. If the wait is not handled properly it can also be the most dangerous part of the Christian life.

Firstly, I want to be clear, when I say wait I do not mean 'do nothing'. There is a big difference between waiting and being idle. While waiting one of the best things to do is to start to manage the things that he has left you with. The Bible tells a story of a master that left 3 servants with different talents. And while he was away all the servants used the talents for something to increase what they had. When the master came back, the ones who increased what he gave got an increase in what they gave back. All except one. The only one that got cursed by the master was the one who hid his talent and gave the same thing back when his master. HE DID NOTHING!
While you wait on God to tell you your next step, start looking at the things that you have been blessed with recently. Maybe that wait may actually be on you to do something with the last blessing you received. So if your one who is finding themselves in a position where you seem to be waiting on God, look around, think back, what was the last blessing that he gave to you? Instead of looking forward to the next one, why don't you try and figure out what you're supposed to do with the last thing that he put in your hands. So when he comes back you have something to show.

Now if there is anything I have learnt, being a man who has recently gotten married to a woman that I know that God has built specifically for me, ive learnt to wait. To be honest, I don't think I would have ever gotten to this stage if I did not wait on God. I really don't know what would have happened if I didn't decide to wait on God His perfect choice for me. If you find yourself in that very same situation where you feel like you want to get married and feel like you have been waiting for a long time, instead of just standing there and not doing anything, why don't you prepare yourself as a woman or a man. Multiply and manage the things that God has given to you and find out the heart of your master and do what he would want you to do. Work on it so that when that time comes, you receive the increase in the blessing when your master finally comes back to you with your blessing.

Lastly one of the dangers of waiting on the Lord is that as people who want result, we tend to want to take things into our own hands. Instead of managing what He gave us, we go out and start finding out what we want for ourselves. That step may seem to make sense to a lot of us but it may have the tendency to lead us off the path that God initially set for us. “I cant wait for the one so I'm going to find them myself.” So you try and use your own wisdom to find someone who you feel will be good for you. If you've been in a relationship, we know that its not ideal because we don't see what God sees and we don't know what God knows. The bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7 (when Samuel the prophet nearly chose a king of Israel based on the looks of a man) “...God looks at the heart.”. So it's best to wait for the one who KNOWS what's best for you.

Remember, the wait is not always fun, but it's necessary and it's good. Make the most out of it. Because God will speak again, when He does, you should have something to show for the time you waited.
